Homework
The math lessons done in Academic Enrichment are in addition to the students' regular math lessons. I try to keep homework assignments minimal, since students are still responsible for their regular classroom homework, however some students just won't be able to complete a task in the short amount of time we have for AE each day. They may need to bring work home. Please feel free to help them if they ask, though some of their work will be a challenge for most adults. I never expect them to work more than 30 minutes a night on AE homework. If they have not completed an assignment after trying for 30 minutes, they should write "worked for 30 min." in their agenda and have a parent initial it so that I know they need them more time and/or extra assistance. I avoid sending home any work on the weekends if possible.
Fridays are generally set aside for playing chess or other logic or math based games. Students who need extra time or assistance with work done during the week can use this game time to complete their work.
Students participating in the Academic Enrichment Fair in the spring will be expected to do research and create a poster at home. Willingness to work outside of class is a requirement for participation in this part of the program.
